Bachelor Degree Programme in
Automation Technology

Automation technology connects different specialist areas and technologies, giving the Bachelor degree programme a highly interdisciplinary approach to technical and operative activities. Besides technical competences in core areas, automation technology students also acquire essential practice-relevant communication, social and methodological skills. Specialist elective modules are of particular importance, because they represent the technical diversity of the field and offer students the opportunity to tailor their course profile. Independent, practice-oriented team work on specialist topics plays a key role in the process. To complement the qualification profile, students acquire English language skills and learn economic basics.

WS 2021/22 Application Deadline Phase 2: 15.07.2021

Admission Criteria

Online Application

The path to your programme begins with registering. Once registered, you can apply online.

BA Application Test

During the online application you can choose your preferred Bachelor application test date. The aim of the exam is to give you the opportunity to prove yourself and your skills. This test is therefore an integral part of the application process.

Submission of Application Documents

After the application test you have a week’s time to submit further application documents online and to complete your application.

Personal Interview

The last step towards your programme is the personal interview conducted by the board of examiners. The interview gives you the chance to prove yourself and your skills face-to-face.

Academic and professional life directly connected

Together with lecturers from well-known companies and their Captains, CAMPUS 02 will accompany you on your academic journey. Science meets business: Projects for various companies help put your acquired theoretical and specialist knowledge into practice. Thereby, you are constantly and directly in contact with the professional world. This extra-occupational degree programme lets you enter a network of students, lecturers, researchers and businesses to achieve a common goal: sustainable success in business.

The extra-occupational degree programme at CAMPUS 02 is designed for full-time working professionals. Since 2005, professional experience is however no longer obligatory in order to be considered for this programme. This way, school graduates and others without professional experience are also given the chance to study at CAMPUS 02.

Business and Engineering Career

Today, the shortage of highly-qualified engineers is still an issue, particularly in Austria. Through the interdisciplinary approach of CAMPUS 02’s Degree Programme in Automation Technology students are trained to be able to work in a variety of fields, making them technical generalists. The degree programme’s output has also kept the market demand for versatile automation technologists stable for years, regardless of crises in individual economic areas. The elective modules of the degree programme offer the chance to work in specialised fields. Not only are graduates wanted for large industrial businesses, but also for many small/middle-sized companies with specialised and highly technologically mature products.

FIELDS OF ACTIVITY

  • Product and application development (design, computer-aided engineering, hard and software design)
  • System integration and production (production planning and scheduling, commissioning, production control)
  • Process optimisation (process planning, system analysis, use of simulations, measurement and control engineering)
  • Measurement data management, acquisition, processing, transfer, visualisation)
  • Trial and test technology (laboratory operations, test bed development and operation)
  • Evaluation and quality management (machine maintenance, resource management, service and repairs)

Views & Voices

Testimonial Nicole Schwaighofer
The degree programme gives you the opportunity to work with experienced lecturers from industry and business and to get to know fellow students from other companies and different professions. Knowledge sharing amongst students is an important additional advantage that the extra-occupational study offers.

I can recommend the Degree Programme in Automation Technology to anyone who wants to advance their technical and social competences as well as expand their specialist knowledge. Students receive broad insight into the three essential pillars of automation technology, can choose to specialise in one of them and adapt their personal soft skills to business demands.
