Introduction of cost accounting in Microsoft Excel

The company Gastro Dienst Haring was founded in 1986 by Mr. Johann Haring. Its business focus is on delivering food and non-food items to gastronomy businesses. The one-man business grew and changed into a GmbH in 2011 with over 40 employees. Due to the constant growth of the Haring business, however, cost structures became more complex and price calculation more difficult. This situation was further complicated by the fact that figures came only from the accounting department. CAMPUS 02 University of Applied Sciences was therefore asked to set up the cost accounting of Gastro Haring by using a Microsoft Excel Tool.

The Microsoft Excel tool was created by using figures from the 2019 annual financial statements. A user manual was drawn up in parallel with this tool. The tool was created in cooperation with the managing director of Gastro Haring, who provided the necessary data and also gave an insight into the company’s internal processes. During the final presentation of the project in October, the excel tool and the user manual were handed over to the client.
