Digitalisation is a topical and controversial issue. The digital revolution of work has often been regarded as a threat characterised by automation and the consequential loss of jobs. In the context of diversity, this problem is compounded and results in the exclusion of certain target groups (e.g. people with disabilities, people with a migrant background, older employees and single parents) from the labour market. In contrast to this view, the INCLUDE perspective on digitalisation is that it, in fact, represents an opportunity.

The Interreg project SMART PRODUCTION AND SERVICE SOLUTIONS focused on production-oriented SMEs. The aim was to identify solutions and to create competence growth. In order to strengthen innovation and competitiveness on the global market, approaches such as interdisciplinarity (certification of production processes, human resources management, use of advanced technologies and tools), interregional cooperation (Eastern, Western Slovenia, Styria, Burgenland and Carinthia) and cross-sector integration (mechatronics, ICT, mechanical engineering, new materials, etc.) were at the core of the project.

A practice-related and scientifically sound evaluation system for ongoing improvement and performance measurement of innovative services had, by that time, not yet been developed. The aim of the project was to develop a holistic evaluation system, by considering the special features of services, for measuring the success of service innovations and to provide a tool for the continuous improvement of services based on measurable parameters.
The EU project C-Plus focussed on the innovation behaviour of central European clusters. The aim of the project was to identify factors that strengthen clusters’ innovation performance in a sustainable manner. Two clusters were investigated per country: Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Austria.

Clusters & Innovation. Making Ideas Happen.
The study is a new edition of the study New Service Development (NSD) successfully conducted in 2009 and aims to collect reliable data about NSD in practice, identify NSD trends, and in parallel, promote the topic in science, practice and politics. The study investigates the role of different key factors in NSD, such as organisational (strategy, structure) and customer-related (role, integration) aspects and their impact on the performance competence of service engineering. The study is conducted across different countries. Besides the core countries Germany, Sweden and Switzerland (represented by Bo Edvardsson, Karlstad University, Lars Witell, Linköping University, Thomas Meiren, Fraunhofer Institute of Industrial Engineering IAO and Adrienne Schäfer, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts), Finland, the UK, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Taiwan and Austria are also investigated. This way, a comprehensive comparison between countries is possible.
NETCONOMY Software & Consulting GmbH is the specialist for successfully implementing multichannelling strategies and integrating online channels in existing business structures and processes. The R&D team in IT & Business Informatics supported NETCONOMY with developing smart services.

To fully exploit the potential of the increasing role of services, the participants of the seminar Systematic Development of Innovative Services and Smart Services learned about strategy-oriented procedure models for developing technology-based services that could be integrated in the participants’ companies upon completing the seminar. The model focusses on a company-wide approach and offers a range of practicable methods and tools especially tailored to the energy and environmental engineering sector for developing innovative and sustainable services.
The qualification seminar Service Assessment was developed based on the needs of companies to strengthen service competence and innovation for SMBs. The seminar focussed on developing a self-assessment tool to examine the aspects Strategy, Processes, Methods and Quality during the development and introduction of ICT-based services. The self-assessment tool helps companies sustainably optimise their service competence step by step through internal assessors and strengthen their service engineering competence.
E-Invoice Gateway is an internet platform that lists legal, organisational and technical framework conditions for electronic accounting in EU member states. The internet platform offers the opportunity to import and maintain data online to participating companies, public institutions and organisations.
Achieving new and optimised services with the right strategy
The aim of the strategy check was to analyse its value-creation chain, processes, core competences and service portfolio at the time for identifying unexploited service potential. The procedure during the strategy check is based on a proven methodical approach for the development of services that are technology-oriented and accompany the product.
TRIS represents the development of a modular qualification programme especially for SMBs, young entrepreneurs as well as start-ups to enable a comprehensive knowledge transfer in the field of innovation.
As one of the project teams, the Degree Programmes in IT & Business Informatics at CAMPUS 02 were, among others, responsible for the design and realisation of a website presenting the cooperation project TRIS.
