Changing environments and a consequential loss of regional authenticity present tough challenges to many parts of Styria that used to be successful industrial or agricultural regions. To combat this loss, it is important to know which resources are already available in a region. It is more promising to use these tangible and intangible resources in an innovative way than to follow short-term trends that do not take into account regional characteristics.
The overall aim of the project is to strengthen young businesses (<5 years of age) in the Austrian and Hungarian border region through mentoring and coaching and to establish a cross-border economic community. This way, a long-term basis for cooperation in innovation and business can be established and active collaboration between Austrian and Hungarian young businesses and start-ups can be promoted.

As part of the DigiAgro project, funded by the Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Regions and Tourism, the region of Styria and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, FH JOANNEUM, University of Applied Sciences and CAMPUS 02 University of Applied Sciences are conducting a series of interviews. The aim of these interviews is to assess the needs of Styrian fruit and viticulture with regard to digital technologies and competencies and to identify relevant stakeholders in the Styrian fruit and viticulture.
Austria’s only post and telegraph museum is currently located in Eisenerz. In this project, a strategic concept and a business plan for a possible relocation to Bruck/Mur is being drawn up in cooperation with the Financial Accounting & Management Accounting department at CAMPUS 02.
There is great demand for tools that can help businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with their service pricing activities. The main aim of this project is thus to develop a model for e-service pricing and service price controlling as well as applicable tools that are tailored to the specific characteristics and requirements of SMEs.
For this purpose, existing concepts and tools from the fields represented in the project team are analysed and then used to develop criteria and partial solutions for new tools.

Dealing with innovations is essential for success, yet generating systematic ideas, filtering the right ideas quickly and strategically and implementing them is a critical and serious process. There are comprehensive tools and methods of “systematic innovation” that can provide vital support for this process. The Degree Programmes in Innovation Management have a high level of competence and experience in this special discipline and integrate it in extra-occupational training.
Based on the degree programmes’ competences and close contact with the industry and together with business partners ZETA Biotechnik GmbH, STARMANN Metallbau GmbH and AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG, special qualification measures were implemented in the partners’ businesses. By expanding the competences of staff members of the respective engineering core team in creativity engineering and TRIZ was improved. The aim was to transfer practice-oriented knowledge with regard to implementing innovations for the respective expert teams with a technological background.
The probability of success of new products and services on the market depend heavily on the orientation of developments towards meeting customer needs. The earlier and more structured the needs are identified in the innovation process and are integrated into development, the smaller the chances of flopping on the market. FOKUS is a research project for developing and testing an SMB-applicable set of methods and tools based on two cases in business practice.
