Privacy statement

for library users

Protecting your data is of utmost importance to us. Our privacy statements for different groups of data subjects offer a brief overview of the personal data we collect and what it is used for.

We, CAMPUS 02 University of Applied Sciences (abbr. CAMPUS 02), Körblergasse 126, 8010 Graz, Austria, process the following data categories, which you have provided when you signed up to the library, by automated means to fulfil tasks in connection with your using our library services:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Contact details

In addition, we process the following data categories while providing library services to you

  • in the course of creating your account in the library system:
    Gender, username, user ID and user category (e.g. staff member, student, alumnus)
  • when you use our library (e.g. borrowing, access to electronic resources):
    Hold requests, reservations, loans, returns, interlibrary loans, automatically generated messages to users, and data from payment transactions

The contractual relationship created by using the library permits the processing of this data according to Art. 6 para. 1 cl. b of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have no legal obligation to provide us with your data. However, you can only use our library services if you provide us with the required data.

Your personal data will be deleted the latest after a year upon expiry of your study/employment contract or loan rights, when you have returned all resources and when you have payed all outstanding fees.

Data created during payment transactions is held for 10 years.

Your personal data is treated as confidential and is generally processed only by CAMPUS 02 staff members internally.

However, data processors who have been commissioned by us can also process data for the purposes mentioned if they can ensure adequate data security. For example, in cases where support is required, external IT service providers can see and process the above-mentioned data categories.

The Austrian Library Network and Service Ltd. (Österreichische Bibliothekenverbund und Service GmbH, OBVSG) functions as the order processors for the library system “Aleph-Sharing” and discovery system “Primo” (catalogue). The data on the Library Network’s servers is saved in Austria.

Please note that we will update this privacy statement from time to time (e.g. due to law amendments, usage of new technology, new study opportunities). We recommend that you regularly check it for updates.

In general, you have right of access, the right to rectification, to erasure, to restrict, to data portability, to withdraw and to object.
