Privacy Statement

Website visitors

Protecting your data is of utmost importance to us. Our privacy statements for different groups of data subjects offer a brief overview of the personal data we collect and what it is used for.

We use “Facebook Pixel” from Facebook Inc, 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”) on our website. We can therefore track your activities after you have clicked on a Facebook advertisement that directs users to our website. This serves to track the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements for statistical and market research purposes and can be used to optimise advertising for you in the future. A cookie may also be stored on your computer for this purpose.

Consent for the transfer of data to the US

Following the European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruling C-311/18, no adequate level of data protection can be guaranteed for data transfers to providers which are subject to US surveillance laws. This is mainly due to the far-reaching access rights of US authorities, the lack of need to obtain a court authorisation for such access and the lack of legal protection for EU citizens. This means that data collected from you is subject to the risk of surveillance by US authorities and no appeal can be taken against this. The EU and the US are currently working to find a solution to eliminate legal uncertainty. Until then, we will use Google Analytics on the basis of your express consent in accordance with the exceptional circumstances of Art 49 para. 1 lit a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This consent is voluntary. You can revoke it at any time, with effect for the future, here or via the settings of your browser or restrict it to certain cookies. However, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of this website. The withdrawal of your consent has no influence on the lawfulness of the processing that took place before your withdrawal.

All collected data remain anonymous for us, so that we cannot draw any conclusions about the identity of a user. However, Facebook does store and process data that enables a connection to your user profile and enables Facebook to use your data for advertising purposes in accordance with the Facebook Data Protection Policy (https://www.facebook.com/policy.php). This allows Facebook and its partners to display ads in- and outside of Facebook.

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (hereinafter “Google”). Google Analytics uses – subject to your consent – the above-mentioned cookies to analyse your use of our website. The information generated by this (including your IP address and the URLs of the websites called up) is transferred to Google servers in the USA and stored there. We do not store any of your data that is collected in connection with Google Analytics.

This website uses “LinkedIn Insight Tag”, a service provided by LinkedIn Corporation, 1000 W. Maude Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94085, USA (hereinafter “LinkedIn”). The so-called conversion tracking and the retargeting function are used. This allows visitors to our website to be shown personalised advertising on LinkedIn. In addition, performance reports on the advertisements can be created and information on website interactions can be generated. For this purpose, a cookie is stored in your browser, whereby LinkedIn recognises you if you surf on this website and if you are logged into your LinkedIn account at the same time.

This tracking is used for statistical analysis of user behaviour for optimisation and marketing purposes. LinkedIn collects URL, referrer URL, IP address, device and browser properties and timestamps. We do not collect any personal data, but only receive aggregated reports on ad performance and website audience.

LinkedIn guarantees the following procedure: “IP addresses are shortened or hashed. For the purpose of pseudonymising data, members’ direct identifiers are removed within seven days. The remaining pseudonymised data is deleted within 180 days.” For more information, please click on the following link: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/65521?lang=en

Consent for the transfer of data to the US

In the case of data transfers to providers subject to US surveillance laws, no adequate level of data protection can be guaranteed since the ECJ ruling C-311/18. This is mainly based on the far-reaching access powers of the US authorities, the lack of need to obtain judicial authorisation for such access and the lack of legal protection for EU citizens. This means that the data collected from you is at risk of surveillance by US authorities and no appropriate legal remedies can be taken against this action.

The processing of data by LinkedIn Ads and LinkedIn Insight Tag via cookies is based on your express consent in accordance with the exception in Art 49 (1) lit a GDPR. This consent is voluntary. You can revoke your consent at any time, with effect for the future, via the cookie banner or via your browser settings by deactivating the cookie(s).

If you are a member of LinkedIn, you can manage your advertising preferences and limit personalised advertising in the advertising settings (https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/90274). You can also disable personalised advertising at the following link: https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls/retargeting-opt-out. Further information can be found in LinkedIn’s privacy policy at https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy.

For enquiries from prospective students/applicants, we have embedded a form on our website that asks for your first and last name, email address and telephone number (optional). This data is used to contact you and to answer your questions. The processing and use is based on your express consent pursuant to Art 6 (1) lit a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future at datenschutz@campus02.at.

The data you provide in the form will be deleted at the end of the academic year in which you made the request.

We use Microsoft Office 365 as cloud service for our e-mail correspondence. Hosting is mainly provided within the European Union in accordance with European data protection laws. Some services and technical support can also be provided from outside of the EU. Therefore, data transfer to the USA is generally possible. Data transfers to providers in the US are permitted in accordance with the exception in Art 49 (1) lit b GDPR, if they are necessary for the fulfilment of a contract or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. For pre-contractual measures E-mail communication is therefore necessary via “Office 365”. Further information on data processing can be found in the Microsoft privacy policy (https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-gb/privacystatement).

On our website we provide a live chat where you can communicate with CAMPUS 02 staff members and ask questions. Your question can be assigned to a member of staff who is responsible for the matter in question. The data you provide via this chat will be processed on the basis of your express consent pursuant to Art 6 (1) lit a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future at datenschutz@campus02.at. However, this does not affect the lawfulness of the data processing that took place until the revocation. This live chat runs on-site, which means that the data is only stored by us.

Communication data will be deleted after 3 months, calculated from the time when the chat sessions were marked as completed. IP address logs will be manually deleted once a year – at the end of the academic year.

The website runs a plugin that generates the social wall (flow-flow), and thus displays content from social media. This plugin itself does not set any cookies and only displays external content. The external content is not embedded via iframe.

On the one hand, content from the social network facebook.com (“Facebook”) is displayed. Facebook is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. On the other hand, content from the video portal Youtube of the US company YouTube, LLC, a subsidiary of Google, LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, is also displayed.

Simply viewing the overview of the social wall and also zooming in on the individual posts do not yet trigger the setting of cookies by the social services through which the posts were created. Only when an action of the website visitor is set in the enlarged view, e.g. a video is actively clicked/played (i.e. with the second click), a cookie of this service is set or forwarded to the corresponding page of the service.

We would like to explicitly point out that we have no influence on the respective data processing of these providers and do not assume any responsibility for it. The way in which these providers use data for their own purposes, the extent to which activities are assigned to individual users, how long this data is stored and whether data is passed on to third parties is not conclusively and clearly stated and is not known to us. Further information on data processing by Facebook and Google can be found in the respective privacy statements: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation (Facebook) and https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de&gl=de#infocollect (YouTube).
